School of Education Scholarships 2009-2010

To be considered for a scholarship, all students must contact Cal Poly’s Financial Aid Office and complete the necessary documents. Most scholarships are awarded by the School of Education based on the requirements of the donor and on student eligibility determined by Financial Aid. Some scholarships are awarded by the Financial Aid Office based on additional required documents, such as a written essay specifically for that scholarship. [Note that due to the poor state of the economy, some scholarships are not listed as they will not be allocated until further notice.]

BOEING SCHOLARSHIP - 2 @ $1000

• Minimum 3.0 GPA & good academic standing
• Financial need and disadvantage
• Class level: credential candidates, emphasis in science and math

MICHAEL AND JOSEPHINE CAPPELLOTTI SCHOLARSHIP - 1 @ $600

• Reentry education student pursuing a Master’s degree or credential. Note DOB prior to 1983.
• Minimum 3.0 GPA
• Preference for financial need
• Bilingual aspirations a plus

CALISTA CHEEK MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP – 1 @ $600

• Minimum 3.0 GPA, must be in good academic standing
• Student must be pursuing a multiple or single subject teaching credential
• Demonstrated economic, educational and/or environmental disadvantage

LU CHI-FA SCHOLARSHIP – 1 @ $870

• Minimum 3.0 GPA, must be in good academic standing
• Student must be pursuing a multiple subject teaching credential
• Preference to bilingual student
• Renewable up to 3 years

COTCHETT SCIENCE AND MATHEMATICS TEACHER EDUCATION SCHOLARSHIP – 2 @ $1000

• Major: Undergraduate science or mathematics major, or concentration in these or a related area
• Liberal Studies 4+1 major in final year or SOE masters or credential candidate
• Preference for financial need
• Non-renewable unless student has reapplied to another SOE program

FUTURE TEACHERS SCHOLARSHIP – 1 @ $600

• Pursuing a multiple or single teahching credential
• Minimum 3.0

DAVID JOSEPH GILL SCHOLARSHIP – 1 @ $500

• Must be in single credential program
• Minimum 3.0 GPA
• 1st preference subject in languages; 2nd preference in either science or math
• Financial need is optional

DON AND JEAN MORRIS TEACHER EDUCATION SCHOLARSHIP – 1 @ $600

• Must be in the credential program
• Minimum 3.0 GPA
• Student must have overcome obstacles to pursue education.
• Preference to student with dependents

LARRY RATNER SCHOLARSHIP – 1 @ $1200

• Must be in the Master’s degree program in counseling and guidance
• Financial need
• Minimum 3.0 GPA
• Priority must be given to student from disadvantaged background
• Active in university or community.

DAVID SANCHEZ MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP – 1 @ $1050

• Must be in the credential program
• Minimum 3.0 GPA
• Financial need
• Student must be bi-lingual in English and Spanish

WALTER AND LEORA SCHROEDER IN COUNSELING AND GUIDANCE – 1 @ $500

• Must be in the Counseling and Guidance Master’s degree program
• Must be planning on working in career counseling at the high school or post-secondary level

ANNE BARNUM SEFTON MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP – 1 @ $500

• Multiple subject credential program
• 1st preference to Paso Robles HS grad in elementary credential program; 2nd preference to same level, without the HS preference; student who advocates for elementary children, with strong grounding in music, drama, or art
• Minimum 3.0 GPA
• Preference for financial need

LAURA E. SETTLE SCHOLARSHIP – 1 @ $2000

• Must be in the credential program
• Financial need
• Average to high scholastic standing
• Record of exemplary character and citizenship
• Must be a US citizen, and CA resident

• Need or demonstrated outstanding worthiness

• Class level: open
• Minimum 3.0 GPA
• Good academic standing

HARLEY AND AUGUSTA ROBERTS SCHOLARSHIP 2 @ $1200

• Class level: open
• Suggest minimum 3.0 GPA.
• To deserving students; i.e., meritorious and worthy of reward
• Financial need optional
